It would be nice to live in the Emerald City where no crimes take place and where no fears have a reason to be; unfortunately, we live in the real world, and until the Wizard of Oz comes to scoop us up we will have to take certain preventive measures to keep ourselves, our families, and our homes safe.
There are few things as important as having a sophisticated and cutting-edge home security system installed in one's home in order to be able to live a tranquil life, within the realm of the possible that is.
What these modern security systems do is prevent against potential risks, and put in place contingency plans in the undesirable instance something does actually go wrong-whether tremendously or only slightly so.
After all, a home is too significant an investment to be taken lightly: not only is the sheer volume of money that was dropped into the structure and the property itself at play, but furthermore the lives of the people living inside and the cumulative value of all the additional assets and possessions stored therein.
Taken as a grand total, that's a lot-both in monetary and in altruistic terms! Hence, the need to have a reliable home security system in place.
There are several features that need to be in place for any such system to be considered "comprehensive;" anything short of the following is just not good enough, and needs to be upgraded.
First, any modern security system needs to be wireless.
Why? Because criminals and burglars know how to by-pass hard-wired security systems, which means that they can break into your house with you in it, without you even realizing it! Wireless technologies are therefore a safeguard against ingenious and alarmingly "talented" crooks.
In addition to being wireless, make sure that the keypad you are using to configure your home security system is digital and not analog, as this helps guarantee the functionality of your system.
Then, there is a variety of different gadgets and gismos you will want to have in place in your home, to really diversify and round out your home's system.
As far as crime prevention is concerned, having several infrared motion detectors (ideally with pet detection capabilities included in them, to reduce the frequency or chance of false alarms) is crucial, covering all the areas inside your home in which there is unlikely to be any movement of family members during the night hours or whenever the alarm is activated.
Furthermore, having a keychain home alarm activator and deactivator is a good idea, so that you can turn your system on and off from any point within your home.
Additionally, try having two-way voice communications capabilities installed and accessible from virtually any point within your home, so that should an emergency arise you don't have to make it to a specific spot in order to contact a live dispatcher-a luxury you may not have when something goes wrong.
Lastly, in terms of general home security, it is wise to have heat, smoke, and carbon monoxide detectors in place, as well as freeze and water sensors, all of which help protect against serious threats to your home and your family.
