How Do I Connect a Cable Broadband Connection to a Wireless Router?
- 1). Plug one end of the first Ethernet cable into the "Computer" port on the broadband modem. Plug the other end of this cable into the "Uplink" or "WAN" port on the router.
- 2). Plug one end of the second Ethernet cable into Port 2 on the router. Plug the other end of this cable into the computer network adapter.
- 3). Turn on the computer, and open a Web browser page. Type the router address (typically 192.168.1.1; see "Tips") into the address field, and press "Enter." When prompted, type in the router user name and password. This will open the router hardware menu.
- 4). Click the "Security" or "Wireless connections" link. Select "WPA" from the menu, and type in a password of your choosing. Write this password down and save it in a secure place. Click "Save and close" to exit the router menu. Close the Web browser window.
