How to Make Handmade Pillows
- 1). Determine the dimensions of your finished pillow. Add 1/4 inch all the way around for seam allowances.
- 2). Cut two pieces of fabric in the appropriate dimensions. Pin the two pieces together with the right sides of the fabric facing each other.
- 3). Use a sewing machine or needle and thread to attach the two pieces together. Sew almost all the way around, leaving 3 to 4 inches of the edge unsewn.
- 4). Turn the pillow right-side-out, pulling the fabric through the unsewn gap in the edge.
- 5). Stuff the pillow with polyfill through the gap in the edge. Continue adding stuffing until the pillow is fluffy, but avoid using too much stuffing, as it will make the pillow hard. Tuck in the raw edges of the fabric at the gap, and hand sew the final few inches of the edge to finish.
