How to improve your self image confidence

The way that you view yourself and the extent to which you believe in that view can have a major impact on your life.  Low self image confidence can have a very limiting influence on many areas or your life. It can hold you back in your career, affect the health of relationships and eventually disconnect you from your real self, the inner you.

Self image is formed from beliefs about ourselves borne of experiences we have had in life since childhood. As we get older these beliefs become what we perceive as our personality, and the “truth” about the real us. Unfortunately the life experiences that our subconscious minds tend to hardwire into our beliefs about ourselves are often negative and we build up a negative self image. This can be very damaging to our prospects for success in life.

So what can we do to change this and improve our self image confidence?

It must all start with how you think. Your thoughts become things and through the power of your subconscious mind (that accepts thoughts as truth no matter what) they eventually become reality. If you think, and only think, positive thoughts about your self image, your subconscious mind will believe you and set about rewiring your brain.

Self confidence comes from self belief and vice-versa. You are the sole creator of your world and if you choose to “upgrade” this world you’ll also upgrade your confidence. This renewed confidence will in turn increase your self belief and your self image.

Ask yourself if the image you think of yourself is the core truth for your being. Listen to your intuition. Feel the answer deep within you. Does the belief attached to that image ring true? Is it your belief, your friends or families, or society’s?

Then ask what motivates that particular image. Is it motivated to please what you perceive to be other people’s image of you? Could it be motivated by attracting attention, or by not wanting to attract attention? What is the deepest motivator? Could it be motivated by comparison and the need to meet some fictional inner standard?

Once you have identified your image motivators, you can choose to address the core issues. You can face the emotion that is connected to the belief and release it, then replace the belief with a new truth. This new truth can be whatever you decide. You can create whatever truth you want, and your new self image confidence will grow stronger and more assured as a result.

We all have unique abilities that set us apart from others. If we concentrate on these abilities and play to our strengths, you will find that an appreciation of these skills will cause inferior feelings that you have about your self-worth to be transformed into ones of pride in yourself and your capabilities, thereby improving you self image confidence.

You are a unique being with your own inner beauty and talents. If you recognize this and  value it, then so will others. Let this be the new image you show to the world.
