Isushi - Living It Up in Loganholme!
A couple of Saturday nights ago we decided to try the sushi train at the Logan Hyperdome.
From the outside the Sushi Train looks very inviting.
I love that they keep a menu outside on a stand so that you can peruse the menu before committing to eat there.
When you walk in you can hear the staff call Irasshaimase (the familiar Japanese welcome) being echoed round the restaurant very reminiscent of what you would expect in a store in Japan.
The waiter came over as soon as we entered and we were seated within seconds at a booth in the middle.
Very surprising as it was about 6pm and a Saturday night during the school holidays.
Our Miso Soups...
Mmm We started by placing an order for 2 Miso soups.
No matter what dish you are eating Miso soup complements them all.
We had another look through the menu at our table which was in a bit better shape then the one on display outside, and decided to order sushi with the wait staff rather than picking up sushi from the train as we wanted to try the Mixed Tempura and Grilled Beef Nigiri.
Grilled Beef Nigiri In the mean time I sipped my scolding hot Miso it was fantastic.
Be careful not to scold yourself.
A few moments later the Tempura and Grilled Beef Nigiri arrived.
The grilled beef Nigiri had a wonderful flavor.
Almost like a wood fired flavor.
My husband tried it even though he isn't the biggest fan of sushi it was a definite favourite.
Next I tried the tempura veggies, they were very good and great value.
There was a decent assortment for the small price it cost.
There was pumpkin, beans, sweet potato, and eggplant.
And not just a single piece of each but at least 2 of the beans and sweet potato.
The Tempura I finished off by ordering a grilled scollop Nigiri and my my husband ordered deep fried ice cream.
The Grilled Scoop Nigiri had that same wood fired taste as the beef version.
I'll definitely be eating that again next time we go.
Sam's deep fried ice cream was not what we were expecting.
Firstly is was a pretty decent sized bowl.
It looked like a bunch of Tempura flakes had been heaped on top and chocolate sauce drizzled over the lot.
When Sam dug his spoon in we found that the ice cream had a layer of cake and cream wrapped around it.
Sam said he would have liked it more if there was more ice cream and less cream, but I think it was just a little difficult to get the ice cream through the cake and cream.
I finished off the bowl for him when he'd had enough and thought that it was an interesting combination.
Very tasty just a bit different.
The Deep Fried Ice Cream Sam noticed two of our friends sitting in the booth behind us, we asked them how they liked the meal and they said it was great.
I noticed that one of the things that they ordered was the Yakitori (Chicken Teriyaki).
In my whole experience of living in Japan for the 18 months I never ate Yakitori.
So many other appealing foods had my attention.
When we were done we walked up to cash register but I think you are supposed to ask the waiter for the bill as the person on the register seemed to take a little bit longer sorting out our bill then he had with the other customers that left before us.
Our mistake, we'll try remembering that for next time.
Overall the dining experience here was very pleasant.
We'd definitely go again.
