This book is a collection of articles on a variety of topics such as resurrection, astrological implications of the Star of Bethlehem, the Templars, and Newton and the Bible.
Many of the articles discuss extreme views, but others reinforce current research.
The one article I wish review is Spreading the Goddess Gospel: Thanks to The DaVinci Code, Maragret Starbird Finds Herself with a Worldwide Audience by Cynthis Logan.
Margaret Starbird's works, The Woman with the Alabaster and The Goddess in the Gospels provided Dan Brown in The DaVinci Code with the idea of Jesus having married Mary Magdalen, an idea she got from Holy Grail, Holy Blood by Baigent, Leigh and Lincoln.
One concept that Starbird discusses is the myth of the Bridegroom/King, where the King is anointed by his bride.
This ritual is found in the ancient civilizations of Sumer, Babylonia and Canaan, among others.
Starbird feels that Mary Magdalen anointed Jesus as part of a marriage ceremony.
"Jesus and Mary Magdalen were representatives of a unified masculine and feminine principle as old as the cosmos itself.
" Starbird's main point is that with the lost feminine, the unbalanced masculine principle warps the whole psychology of Western civilization.
She comments that the only way to heal our planet is to reclaim the feminine principles.
While many want to dismiss Jesus' existence or importance, she simply wants to set the record straight, to revise and complete the gospel story of Jesus to include his wife.
I agree with Starbird on the inclusion of the feminine with the masculine.
Remember the concept of polarity in which everything has an opposite.
We know from the Rosicrucians' Cosmic Principles that the power is in the balance of those opposites.
I don't see this recognition in the traditional religions that exclude the female.
I agree that to heal our planet, we must remember the feminine principles.
In order to create a better future, we must incorporate the feminine into our lives in our spirituality.
We need a combination of the masculine and feminine in order to create.
Logan is reminding us of Starbird's work to help remedy this lack in our established religions and in our lives.
There is often a tendency to go to one extreme or the other in fixing a problem.
We must be careful not to exclude the masculine as we bring forth the feminine.
Looking within to identify our own masculine and feminine traits is the best way to approach this combining of the two sides.
Honor the female within us and honor the male within us, despite our gender.
That is the key we often neglect.
Healing our planet is related to healing ourselves.
Balance within is a first step.
Starbird's work can help remind us to do this.
