Guide Review - Book Review: What Dog Are You?
What Dog Are You is a fun, lighthearted book by Lori Lebda and Tami Bergeson. The book enables people of all ages to find out what dog breeds they most resemble and learn more about dog breeds in general. The quizzes, however, are not intended to be scientifically sound. Instead, one should approach this book as a fun project or game that offers some insight into the traits of 100 dog breeds.
What Dog Are You begins with three quizzes. The first poses questions about personality, or "Pooch-onality." The second quiz is entitled "Dapper Dogs" and focuses on appearance.
The third quiz, "Biscuits or Bones," asks questions about the reader's opinions and choices. At the end of each quiz, points are added up to give a final number. The reader then finds the dog breed that matches the numeric value. After completing all three quizzes, the numbers can be added up to determine the reader's overall breed. The book also contains a horoscope section, a human-to-dog-years chart, brief descriptions of dog breeds and dog drawings.
Overall, I enjoyed reading What Dog Are You. I found that the breeds I resembled actually made sense and I learned a few fun facts about dog breeds. Families might especially enjoy taking the quizzes together for fun and bonding. What Dog Are You would make a great gift for most dog lovers, but might be especially fun for children who want to know more about dogs and themselves.
Just in case you are wondering - my overall dog breed was a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. I never would have guessed it, but I have to say it suits me!
