How to Upgrade Your Windows Version
- 1). Power on your computer, if it is not already on, and close any applications or programs that open automatically. All applications, except for the processes running in the System Tray, must be closed before you install your Windows upgrade.
- 2). Insert your installation disk, if you are installing from a disk, or double-click on your installation file that you downloaded, if you purchased the upgrade online. The setup wizard screen will automatically appear on your screen.
- 3). Choose "Install now" on the "Install Windows" screen.
- 4). Select that you want to get the latest updates on the "Get important updates for installation" page of the installation wizard. This uses your Internet connection to check for any updates for the install. The latest updates give you the most current security patches and other critical Windows updates to prevent your system from being vulnerable to security exploits.
- 5). Read the license terms and accept them in order to continue with the installation. Click "Next" at the bottom of the screen to proceed.
- 6). Click on "Upgrade" on the "Which type of installation do you want?" screen to start the upgrade installation. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your upgrade installation to Windows 7.
