    Independent Fee Appraiser

    • 1). Visit the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers (NAIFA) website (see Resource for a link). Independent fee appraisers offer their valuation services on a contractual basis, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The Association provides a search tool to locate Kansas home appraisers.

    • 2). Select “Kansas” from the “State” drop-down menu on the NAIFA Search page. Additionally, you can enter your city or zip code to narrow your search.

    • 3). Click the “Search” button to execute the search.

    • 4). Review the results and contact a preferred appraiser.

    County Government Online Services

    • 1). Visit the government website for the county in which the house is located. For example, the Douglas County government site provides an “Online Values & Taxes” tool that lists property values.

    • 2). Search the site for “property values,” “property assessments” or “property taxes” to locate the online tool.

    • 3). Enter the street address, including the number and street name.

    • 4). Execute the search by clicking the “search” button.

    Real Estate Agent

    • 1). Locate a real estate agent. Contact the Kansas Association of REALTORS to locate an agent in the home’s area. You can also conduct an online search using keywords—“Kansas real estate agents,” for example—to locate another real estate organization. (See Resource for links).

    • 2). Call the agent and request the value of the property in question.

    • 3). Follow-up with the agent to record the home’s value.
