How to Check for Air Leaks in a Mattress
- 1). Blow the air mattress all of the way up until it is firm but not full.
- 2). Place several non-sharp objects onto the mattress. If this option is not available, lay on the air mattress.
- 3). Listen for air escaping or place a hand on the air mattress until you feel air escaping from the mattress.
- 4). Mark the spot where the air is escaping from with a permanent marker.
- 5). Patch the hole.
- 1). Fill the air mattress up with air. Make sure to get the mattress full but not too firm.
- 2). Using a piece of tissue paper, place the tissue paper on the mattress. If the tissue paper moves, you've found the hole. If this does not work, the next step can be completed.
- 3). Fill a spray bottle with soapy water. Do not get the water too soapy, as this will cause a mess.
- 4). Spray the mattress with the soapy water. If bubbles appear, the hole has been located. Use a washcloth to dry the mattress.
- 5). Patch the hole, either by using duct tape or a mattress patch.
