In hydroponics, soil isn't used in growing plants. Thus, it is often referred to as soilless gardening. In order to have a successful hydroponics garden, you have to use the correct supplies. Here are some of the things you'll need.

Lighting - Without proper lighting, your plants will not flourish even if you have a good system for them. In hydroponics, you will be able to place your hydroponic garden in an area where they can receive the right amount of light that they need. Also, you may provide artificial lighting necessary for their growth. Using a light meter is the best way to know the amount of light that is falling on a particular surface. Light meters can be purchased at stores where photography supplies are usually sold.

Temperature - Having the right amount of temperature is also one of the relevant requirements of having a successful indoor garden. It is necessary to measure the warmth near the window. You must keep in mind that even hot air rises, and hanging gardens will be able to have their own temperatures. Temperature may be easier to manage with the use of artificial lighting. However, heating units and drafts must be distant to the garden.

Container - From watering tables to a self contained component on a counter, there is a perfect growing system that suits all gardening needs. The container that you will use for your plants must be easy to clean, non reactive, and it must be the suitable size for your plants.

Nutrients - Since this type of gardening includes controlling every factor that affects the plant's growth, nutritional needs are very important. Most people believe that using a pre made solution is the safest and most economical way of feeding our plants. Since there isn't any soil, all the nutrition that your plants need must be in the applied solution. The nutrients or also known as nutrient salts are commonly measured and dissolved in water. This is then applied to your aggregate or pumped throughout the system.

Mats - In every growing system, mats are usually used to improve the growth of the root and the plant's stability. The growth of the root isn't actually restricted but it is improved. Roots are protected from algae and light contamination by the mats.

Compressed bricks - It serves as a compact and efficient means of transportation and storage to big volumes of coir. These bricks will last long enough if it is protected from water and if the sterility is ensured.

Growing media - The use of the right growing medium is essential in providing nutrients to the plants. Some of the media that is commonly used are coconut coir, perlite, oasis cubes, sand, air, rockwool, gravel and lava rock. Among the most commonly used growing medium is the coconut coir or coconut fiber. It provides certain beneficial microorganisms and has the basic properties good of water and air retention. It maintains higher oxygen capacity than other other types of medium. It also retains water better than rockwool.
