Do it Yourself Homemade Baby Shower Favors
- Make your own picture frames out of thin cardboard and popsicle sticks. Build the frame for your picture frame by gluing popsicle sticks together like you did in elementary school. Then glue a thin piece of cardboard over the popsicle stick frame cut to fit the exact sizing. Next cover the entire frame in decorative fabric. Create a backing with a piece of cardboard covered in your decorative fabric. Then add some stick-on Velcro strips to both the back of the frame and the backing so you can attach them together for inserting and holding the photograph. Add embellishments as you see fit. Insert a photo or leave it empty.
- Most people love sweet treats such as cookies, cake, candy and pie. Make your guests something delicious to take home. Try to play with the theme of the party or concept. For example, make battle- rattle shaped cookies or pacificer candy suckers. Wrap these in a festive box or colored cellophane, and then attach a custom sticker or tag stating what it is and thanking guests for coming.
- Make custom soap candles for your guests. There are lots of soap and candle molds you can find online or in craft stores, so you can choose an exciting design that fits the theme of the shower. Wrap these homemade soap designs and candles in a decorative box, colored cellophane or fabric, and tie with a matching ribbon or bow. (See Resources below for recipes and ideas for custom soap and candle creations.)
- Purchase some cheap ceramic tiles at a hardware or home improvement store. Paint on the baby's name or the mother's name. Or paint each guests' name on the tile for some extra special personalization. Then paint these with a paint glaze or sealant to give them some shine. These make adorable custom coasters.
- A baby is a blooming life inside a woman, and a gift that brings a smile to any parent's face; flowers and plants are very much the same--blooming presents. Give your guests a packet of seeds. Fill a pretty container with seeds and create a label to personalize. Or fill some colored fabric with seeds and tie shut in a small bunch with a pretty ribbon. Add a tag telling guests what the seeds are and how to plant them.
