How to Remove Grease Stains From a Quilt

    • 1). Dab a bit of oxygenating stain-treatment liquid or powder onto a slightly damp but clean rag. Test for color-fastness.

    • 2). Lightly scrub the grease stain on your quilt with the rag, working in circles for about 2 to 3 minutes. Let the treated material rest for 30 minutes prior to washing.

    • 3). Wash your quilt in lukewarm water using an oxygenating laundry detergent.

    • 4). Examine your quilting when it is done washing to make sure the oil stain is gone. If not, repeat Steps 1 through 3 to get rid of any remaining stain.

    • 5). Set your quilt out to dry by lying it on top of clean sheets spread over your lawn on a sunny day. Cover the quilt using another sheet to protect it from debris. To dry indoors, set the quilt on top of several drying racks and aim fans at it.
