The Criminal Justice Act of 1925
- This act appointed a minimum of one probation officer to be present in every probation area and to supervise people who are required to be supervised according to their probation order. It also approved of a salary for the probation officers, to be determined by the local authority.
- When a person is charged with an indictable offense, he may be tried and punished in the county where he committed the offense, in the county that he was charged with the offense or in the county where he was apprehended. If a person has not yet been charged with an indictable offense, she will have the deposition of the witness read to her. She then has to sign the deposition and will be charged with an indictable offense.
- If an arrest warrant has been issued by a justice, any police officer may arrest the person the warrant is for, whether or not he has the warrant on his person. The person arrested does not have to see the arrest warrant until after she has been arrested.
