1. Girl's Incorporated of Greater Indianapolis


Shaping the lives of young women in our community is so important. Girls Inc of Greater Indianapolis strives to inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold. 2. Gleaners Food Bank


An estimated 287,000 Indiana residents suffer from hunger, according to Gleaners Food Bank's website. The local organization collects, stores and distributes food and critical grocery products to qualifying agencies who serve the public directly. Among those agencies are food pantries—as well as soup kitchens, halfway homes and emergency shelters. Volunteers are always needed at Gleaners. If you're good with your hands or enjoy building, the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Indianapolis could use your help. The organization strives to build hope in our community by providing decent affordable homes for families in need. Since 1987, they have built nearly 400 homes.

6. Special Olympics Indiana


Special Olympics Indiana reaches nearly 12,000 athletes throughout the state of Indiana. The organization provides sports-training for children and adults with intellectual disabilities year around.
