Tips to Resize Individual Thumbnails in VirtueMart WebSite Development

VirtueMart WebSite Web Design is the open source e-commerce component for use with Joomla, which is an open source content management system. Instructions VirtueMart WebSite Web Design
1. Log in to the admin side of your Joomla installation. It will usually be located at yoursite.com/administrator unless you installed your copy of Joomla in a subfolder. Then it will be yoursite.com/subfolder/administrator.
2. Click "Components" in the top navigation menu, once you are logged in, and select "VirtueMart" from the drop-down menu.
3. Click "Configuration" in the options icons displayed on the main admin page for VirtueMart. Select the "Site" tab at the top.
4. Check "Dynamic Thumbnail Resizing" in the Design options to enable it. Enter a height and width in the appropriate fields under the Dynamic Thumbnail Resizing option. Try to find an image size similar to what you are changing individual thumbnails to. All values are in pixels.
5. Click "Save" when you are finished modifying the configuration settings for VirtueMart.
6. Download the generated thumbnail images from the server where your VirtueMart installation is using your FTP client software. Any FTP client software will work such as Dreamweaver, FileZilla or Internet Explorer.
7. Open each image in your photo editing software. Make sure your software can resize images, and save them in the original format, which should be JPEG.
8. Manually resize each image using your image editing software. Suitable software for this includes Photoshop, Gimp or Picnik (see Resources). Be aware of the amount of space you have available in your design for thumbnails.
9. Save your files with the same name and in the original format and upload them to your WebSite Web Design server. VirtueMart will now use your adjusted images for thumbnails.
Tips & Warnings for VirtueMart
You can repeat Steps 6 through 9 if you need to adjust your image sizes again.
You can also resize VirtueMart thumbnails by enabling define('PSHOP_IMG_RESIZE_ENABLE', ''); located in administrator/components/com_virtuemart/virtuemart.cfg.php file. Change it to define('PSHOP_IMG_RESIZE_ENABLE', '1'); and modify the sizes as necessary.
You will need to repeat Steps 6 through 9 for all new thumbnails created.
