Letter H Crafts for Kids
- The "H is for Heart" craft is a fun way to incorporate the letter "H" with hearts. This craft is ideal for Valentine's Day and can be made in less than 30 minutes. Have students trace and cut out an "H" onto a piece of poster board. If you are working with students who are not skilled enough to trace and cut letters, pretrace and cut the "H" before starting the craft. Instruct students to glue small cutouts of red construction paper hearts onto the "H". Tell the children to cover the "H" with hearts so none of the poster board paper is showing.
- Cut out the center of a paper plate and let students color both sides of the "O" shape that remains. Have them color the outside of a paper bowl and take the bowl and place it facedown on top of the paper to cover the hole. Staple the bowl to the plate. Explain to the children that hat begins with the letter "H" and tell them to try on their new hats.
- Trace the letter "H" onto cardstock paper as many times as is necessary to give each student one; cut the letters out. Precut small bow ties, mouth shapes, pairs of eyes, pairs of eyebrows, and noses from construction paper and give one of each item to every student. Show students how to glue the nose and mouth onto the horizontal line connecting the legs. Tell them to glue an eye and eyebrow to the top of both legs of the "H" and have them glue the bow tie across the legs at the bottom of the "H". Give the students two pieces of cloud-shaped black construction paper and tell them to glue one to the outer edge of the top of either side of the legs for hair.
- Cut long strips of crepe paper and have students glue the strips side by side to a piece of yarn so they hang parallel to the student's legs when the yarn is tied around their waists. Let them wear them as hula skirts.
