We have to be very careful when the government starts spending money especially when they tell you it is for research.
Many of the things that are studied by universities are quite absurd, and they often have an unintended consequence, especially when they're attached to environmental activism.
For instance, much money has been spent for global warming studies, but many of the things that are studied are utterly ridiculous and the findings are even more absurd.
For instance, consider a university wanting to study the effects of CO2 and global warming on the spotted owl, if the temperature increases 5°C.
First of all, there is no guarantee that whatever happened, and second of all if you take a spotted owl and put them in a cage and pumping lots of CO2 and increase the temperature, isn't that cruelty to animals? Of course, the headline from the results of such a study will be on the front page of every liberal newspaper in our society.
Worse, it helps perpetuate a falsehood about global warming.
You would not believe if you read what some of the studies are these days, and to think that the taxpayer's money is paying for all this is absolutely insane.
So, yes by all means let's put money for the research and development grants for technologies that will help us in the future.
That is money well spent, but if we waste our research and development dollars like the government wastes money on social programs, all we will do is strain the budget, borrow money in deficit, and cause more ridiculous proposals and grants for needless and unending nonsense.
Please consider all this.
