    • 1). Insert the CD-ROM discs that accompanied the HF S100 into the CD/DVD tray of your computer and follow the on-screen prompts to run the setup program and install the software, which includes the PIXELA and Digital Video Solution programs. These programs facilitate the importing of video and photo files from the camera, though you can also use other video and picture software programs if you choose.

    • 2). Connect the HF S100 to your computer using the supplied USB cable. The USB output port is located on the right side of the unit, behind the hand strap; connect the camera (small) end of the cable to the output jack and the computer (standard USB connector) end to an open USB port on your computer. For its initial use with Windows computers, you will need to select the CameraWindow auto-launch setting when the option appears on-screen.

    • 3). Open the Digital Video Solution program (or other photo software program) to import photos from the HF S100. Set the camera mode dial to "Camera Play" mode, in single photo view. The direct transfer menu will appear on the camera's display screen and the "Video Snap/ Print Share" button on the left side of the unit will light up.

    • 4). Press the "Function" button and use the joystick to navigate through the menu options to select a transfer option and press "Set" to save the setting. Options include automatically transferring all or new photos, or selecting photos to transfer manually. Press the "Video Snap/Print Share" button again to transfer the photos.

    • 5). Connect the camera to your computer using either the USB cable or the mini HDMI cable (if your computer offers a mini HDMI input) to import video files from the HF S100. Open the PIXELA software program (or a video editing/managing program of your choice) and set the camera mode dial to "Camcorder play" mode. Select the scene you wish to import from the camera's display and follow the on-screen prompts of the software program to begin playback on the camera and transfer the video to your computer.
