Daddy Daughter Dance Crafts
- Before the big event, task each father to assemble a collage of pictures that signifies his daughter. Have the daughters do the same for their fathers. For example, if a girl's father works in the garden every weekend and watches football, she could take a picture of him gardening and print a photo of his favorite football player. Assemble the pictures on opposite sides of a poster board, one side for the daughter and one side for the father, and hang the finished boards for display at the dance.
- This activity is both a game and a craft. At the dance, hand each father-daughter pair some clay or another moldable product. Have a bowl ready with cards, with each card describing what everyone is to make. Pick a card and give everyone two minutes to complete their creation as a team, then present the finished product to a judge or judges who will decide which father-daughter pair is the winner. This may continue for multiple rounds with different subjects.
- If the girls are assembled together before the dance, such as in a classroom the day before, have them each create a "thank you" or an "I love you" card for their dads. Have cardstock, scissors, glue, pens and decorations available for the girls to each create their own crafty card to give to their daddies at the dance.
- At the dance, take a picture of each father-daughter pair. Use a Polaroid camera so that they can get their picture right away, or print the pictures digitally from a nearby computer. Then direct the pair to a table so that during the dance they can create their own picture frame for their special picture. Ideas for supplies include: Popsicle sticks, twigs, glue, paint, colored markers, and pieces of cardboard or plywood for securing or mounting the picture.
