The best way to save money when shopping online is to shop around, stay focused and know where to look on a company's website.
On average, you can save 20% off your regular order if you look for sales and clearance items! That means...
if you spend an average of $1,000 annually on your households clothing, you will have a cool $200 left in your pocket for whatever you want at the end of the year.
Here's how to do it: 1.
Now what you want to find and stay focused - This may seem simple, but what it's too easy to be looking for something, then see other items that you think you need.
Have you ever walked into Wal-Mart and not gotten a cart because you only plan on purchasing the "3" items you went in there for? How many times have you gotten to the back of the store, and had 7 things in your hand before you even got to "Item #1" on you list? Exactly.
You're stranded without a cart and wondering what just happened.
The same thing can happen when shopping for clothing online...
don't lose focus.
2.
Use the right search keywords - I recently wrote an article on doing proper searches, and this proves extremely valuable for sales searching.
Be descriptive for the exact type of clothing you are looking for.
Using the term "sale" instead of coupon or discount will yield you more selections during your search.
3.
Be visual - After you select of website to visit, most of them do not direct you to the exact sales page.
If they do...
jackpot! When you get to the website, get to the home page if you're not there.
Some companies update their sites frequently, and include coupons and offers on their home page.
These are nice, and you can potentially find some great deals, but the real gold mine lies in the Clearance and Sales pages on the site.
Look for these icons on the homepage, and move forward by selecting them.
4.
Filter, Filter and Filter more - A lot of good companies have filtering in their sales/clearance pages to help you select from certain sizes or departments.
Use these efficiently, and it will save you time and effort of having to look through every single item that is marked down.
Again, see Point 1 about staying focused, as the filtering control is a great aid for this.
5.
Don't sacrifice quality for price - There are many ways to judge the quality of clothing, but it can be a little difficult to when you're looking at it on the web.
Go to the product descriptions page, and look for reviews.
If there are none, do a little research on the materials used.
Avoid products with metal accents/embellishments, attached internal layers, elastic armholes or empire waist lines.
Try to find stretchy fabric that smooths your body instead of being too tight and creating odd-shaped bulges.
6.
Shop and compare - Don't forget to shop around before you make your purchase.
You can add the item to your cart without checking out, which puts it on hold and allows you to look for better deals or selections.
You can always come back to it if it's your favorite, but be sure to look at multiple selections and base your final decision on price and quality.
Another important thing to consider when shopping for plus size clothing online is to know your body and what looks good on it.
Never buy something that is not the correct size or fit.
There are so many sales, that you are almost guaranteed to find what you want at a great price.
You may have to do a little legwork, but the rewards are worth the effort.
