Can't decide how to order information in your paragraph? Try one of these.
  1. Build to a climax.
Want to convey something memorable in a dramatic manner? Use this structure, which begins from a casual information to a grand statement.
  2. Go from the familiar to the unfamiliar.
Analogies generally work this way - start the reader off with something they can relate to before showing them the new information.
This also works for many other types of paragraphs, as it allowing the reader to get into the discussion before presenting something that can be a source of confusion.
  3. Go from the general to the particular (and vice versa).
General to particular is the ideal structure for introductions, but can be used elsewhere, such as when an ideology or a product.
Its opposite, on the other hand, usually does well for conclusions and can be just as effective for other types of paragraphs.
  4. Narrate your story.
Historical and biographical paragraphs are best written out as a narration.
Structure it as a story, allowing your reader to follow the event like it was a scene in a movie.
  5. Use the timeline.
In this style, you list events in order, allowing the sequence of events to tell the story.
Make sure the reader knows exactly when you're moving in the timeline and when you're standing still.
  6. Flesh it out.
When none of the others seem feasible, just grind it out.
Find a starting point and build your discussion from there.
This takes some amount of faith in your ability to tell a tale, but it's usually easier than you think, especially after you've written the first sentence.
Of course, all paragraphs work best when they're written without painful errors in grammar and syntax.
To ensure this, always use agrammar writing software - you don't want all that work fixing your paragraph order to go to waste, right?
