Creating the Modern Bathroom
Bathroom The days when the bathroom was a place for a toilet, a bath and a basin are certainly long gone.
No one in his right mind would consider that when accommodating these essentials that anything more than the very basic necessities has been accomplished.
Nowadays the bathroom can truly represent the control center of the home.
Essentials This is a very dangerous topic for me to embark on.
What I might consider essential most of my family would consider stone age.
I want a toilet that functions properly.
I like a padded seat which is an improvement on what I grew up with.
I don't even mind if it is heated, even though I don't find that as essential as my wife does.
Of course this raises the prospect of having separate toilets with mine only padded and hers padded and heated.
Personally I would like a basin where I can comfortably brush my teeth, shave, clip my fingernails, wash my hands and spit out my mouthwash.
Other than that I am not really fussed.
However, my wife would like at least a double basin.
I thought she meant his and hers, but no she meant for different functions.
I must admit I didn't explore sufficiently to find out what she wanted with two basins.
I think it had to do with various cosmetics.
Seemingly some are needed for the hair and other needed for the face and others for other things.
For some reason this seems to require a double basin for comfort.
I have long since learned not to argue but merely to see if there is another bank that I can rob without getting caught.
Then of course there is the business of the shower and/or bathtub.
The Shower I thought that a simple shower was a great thing to have in a bathroom.
However I have since discovered that I must have arrived on the Ark.
It seems that if one is to have a shower it must be the size of a normal family home and be outfitted with things that spurt water from the most extraordinary angles and places.
It is even desirable to be able to control the temperature of the various sprays separately.
I am happy to spray my body from whatever angle as long as it feels clean in the end.
However, that seems to be an ancient concept.
The Bathtub I must admit that I had no idea what was available when it comes to bathtubs.
I thought you got in, soaked and got out.
Silly me.
It seems that if you are to be 21st century you must have a walk in bathtub that will include what is strangely called a spa and occupy enough space for the entire family to dine in comfort.
Not only must you be able to easily walk in and out, you have to be able to point jets of water at any and every point of your body at various degrees of intensity.
Well it certainly has been a revelation to enter the 21st century bathroom revolution.
Conclusion This is just the beginning of what you need in your bathroom these days.
I look forward to being able to afford a house as well as the bathroom.
