Natural Solutions for Gray Hair

    • The process of aging brings about many changes in a person's lifestyle and appearance. Probably one of the least welcome developments brought about by aging is that of graying hair. Millions of people, both men and women, develop graying hair as a result of daily stresses and genetic influences. Luckily there are numerous inexpensive, all-natural solutions you can use to get rid of grays and ensure that your hair looks youthful and bright.

    Sage Brew

    • Using sage (an herb which can be found at any health food store), you can create a simple rinse that will help cover any grays. Begin by simmering 1/2 cup of sage in approximately 2 cups of water for about 30 minutes. After removing the pan from heat, allow the sage to soak in the remaining water for several hours so it thickens. Apply a small amount of the solution to dry hair, spreading evenly throughout gray areas. After the solution has dried, rinse it out completely and dry hair normally.

This process should be repeated one or two times a week until the desired color change has been achieved. From this point on, repeat monthly for maintenance.

    Curd and Black Pepper

    • This recipe is ideally suited for people with black or deep brown hair. Because it helps to get rid of grays by darkening them, it is not a good idea for people who are blond or red-headed. The recipe itself is very simple and requires just 100 grams of curd and 1 gram of black pepper (both of which can be found at most grocery or health food stores).

After mixing the pepper with the curd, apply a small amount to the scalp, and spread the mixture evenly over gray areas. Allow the solution to soak for approximately one hour, and rinse with shampoo and warm water. The process should be repeated once a week.

    Henna Solution

    • For people with red or auburn hair, a basic henna solution can help give gray hairs a reddish tint so they blend much more evenly. After purchasing dried henna at a health food store, mash it into a paste in an iron pot. Leave the pot covered for one night, and in the morning add a handful of walnut pulp, also available at most health food stores. Mix the pulp so it is distributed evenly in the henna paste. Apply the paste evenly throughout gray areas and allow it to soak for one or two hours before rinsing with warm water. The process should be repeated once a week until the desired results are attained, after which monthly maintenance should suffice.

    Gooseberry and Mango Seeds

    • This quick recipe is a great way to help prevent and treat gray hair without spending much time or energy on preparation. Simply mix gooseberries and mango seeds (both of which can be found at most health food stores) to form a paste. Apply the paste to gray areas and allow it to dry before rinsing it out. The process should be repeated once a week or as often as desired.
