    • 1). Click "Start" and click "Run" to open a new Run command box.

    • 2). Type "control mouse" in the command box and press the "Enter" key to open the Mouse Properties window.

    • 3). Click the "Device Settings" tab located in the upper-right of the window.

    • 4). Click the entry for the touchpad device installed on the computer under the "Devices" heading. Many laptop touchpads use the Synaptics TouchPad device driver.

    • 5). Click the "Disable" button. Click "OK" when prompted to continue. The laptop's touchpad is now disabled. To re-enable the touchpad, click the "Enable" button in the "Device Settings" tab.
