How to Remove the Mower Deck on a Troy-Bilt Pony
- 1). Turn off your Troy-Bilt Pony riding lawn mower and remove your keys.
- 2). Find the deck lift lever beside the Troy-Bilt Pony mower's seat. Push this lever forward to drop the mower deck to its lowest position.
- 3). Open the front hood over the Troy-Bilt Pony's hood. Find the spark plug on the right side of the engine assembly. The black ignition cable leads into the back of the plug. Remove it from the plug before continuing.
- 4). Put on a pair of gloves for your safety.
- 5). Find the engine pulley belt at the top of the engine assembly, and notice the rod that sits on the pulley. This is the belt keeper rod. Remove the screw from the Troy-Bilt's belt keeper rod using a Phillips screwdriver.
- 6). Slide the keeper rod off the engine pulley now that its screw has been removed.
- 7). Remove the belt from the Troy-Bilt's engine pulley. It will slide off now that the keeper rod has been removed.
- 8). Find the deck support rod on the left side of the Troy-Bilt Pony mower. It is housed within the deck lift arm and held in place with a single pin. Pull this pin out.
- 9). Pull the pin out of the right deck support rod on the opposite side of the mower in the same fashion.
- 10
Adjust the Troy-Bilt Pony's deck back into its upper position via the deck lift lever. - 11
Find the PTO (power takeoff) cord. It is on the back of the mower deck and is held in place with a hairpin clip. Remove this clip to disconnect the Troy-Bilt's PTO cord. - 12
Pull the now-loose Troy-Bilt mower deck carefully out from the rest of the mower.
