How to Replace a Suction Line on a Dryer
- 1). Remove the old line from your dryer. It should be attached using metal foil tape, but can also be attached using a fastener that can be loosened using an attached screw.
- 2). Clean both ends where the line attaches. The line connects to the exhaust port of the dryer and to a vent leading to the outdoors. Remove any lint that may have built up. Excess lint can obstruct the flow of air and possibly become a fire hazard. Consider using compressed air to clean hard to reach places.
- 3). Cut a section of the line that will connect the dryer to the outdoor vent and not leave a large amount of excess length. Avoid piling excess line behind the dryer or making sharp 90 degree turns. Several 45 degree turns in the line will help reduce air flow restrictions.
- 4). Securely fasten both ends of the line using metal foil tape. This special tape will help seal any possible air leaks in the line and fasten it securely into place with a minimal amount of tools and effort.
