Mullers" Proof of the Power of the Subconscious Mind
"I rented the house, Number 6, Wilson street, St Pauls, (Bristol) as being, on account of it's cheapness and largeness, very suitable.
Having furnished it for 30 children we began, on April 11, 1836, to take them in and on April 21st, the Institution was opened by a day being set aside for prayer and thanksgiving.
There are now 26 children in the house and a few more are expected daily.
We intend to take children in from seven to twelve years old.
" This is what German George Muller wrote at the start of a mission that would make him one of Britains greatest social reformers.
Because of the high mortality rate in Victorian England the number of orphans, waifs and beggars roaming the streets was enormous.
The state did nothing.
If you were a "respectable" orphan you stood a chance of finding a place in an orphanage, but the poor just had to beg or starve.
Many destitute young boys spent their days wandering the streets and sleeping anywhere dry and sheltered at night.
By the time Muller died in 1898 he left behind him his realised dream - five huge houses catering for 2,000 orphans.
All the more remarkable was the fact that that Muller never once appealed for money, when he needed it he prayed and, by some miracle, a sum of money would arrive or a tradesman would deliver with a load of flour, milk or clothing.
Never once, he said, did any Muller child go hungry or poorly clothed.
Never once was a child turned down.
In his lifetime Muiller received more than one and a half million pounds (equating to around an incredible £75 Million in today's money) and cared for 10,000 otherwise destitute children.
Christians at the time called it a miracle, the sceptics said it was his magnetic personality that drew people, and help, to him.
We now know, thanks to science, that Muller lived his life by using his subconscious mind.
Focus, meditation (prayer) and thanksgiving or gratitude, as well as pure resolute faith are all essential components of correctly training the subconscious mind to act for and protect our being, our life force.
We know the Victorians were religious, and such miracles such as Mullers' life would have been seen as a result of pure living in the faith.
Victorians didn't know, or understand, the workings of the subconscious mind, or the blessings it can bestow on the active subconscious practitioner.
Against all odds, and unsurmountable problems, Muller achieved the impossible.
