How to Knit a Loom Doll Dress

    • 1). Measure the widest part of the doll for which you want to make a dress. Also measure from the doll's underarm to the point on the doll where you want the bottom of the dress to fall. Measure, too, from the doll's underarm in front, over its shoulder to the underarm in back. Write down the measurements. Choose a round, plastic knitting loom that is closest in size to the first measurement you took.

    • 2). Tie a slipknot in yarn, leaving an 8-inch tail. Slip the knot over the peg that is at the side of the loom. Wrap that yarn around each peg at the loom's top, crossing the yarn at the back of the peg on the inside of the loom. This is called an e-wrap. Do this all the way around the loom. Repeat this procedure so that you have two loops on each peg. Use a loom knitting hook to lift each bottom loop up and over the top of the peg, leaving the upper loop in place. Wrap the pegs again, and repeat the procedure. Continue knitting in this way until you reach the length of the measurement from the doll's underarm to the bottom of the dress.

    • 3). Knit a final round, and leave only one loop on each peg. Begin with the second peg to the left side of the first peg in the round. With the hook, lift the loop on the left over the top of the first one. Work that loop over. It will be tighter and more difficult than previous rows. Place the remaining loop back on the second peg. Repeat the process with the third peg, and continue until you have only one loop left. Bring that loop off, and cut the yarn, leaving an 8-inch tail. Insert the tail through the loop, and pull tightly.

    • 4). Wrap the first five pegs, and then turn and work back in the opposite direction, wrapping them again. Knit using the hook, going back and forth over the five pegs until you reach the length of the over-the-shoulder measurement. This part makes a shoulder strap. Cast off, and repeat the process to make the second shoulder strap.

    • 5). Place the dress on the doll's body, bringing it up to just below the arms. Fit the shoulder straps onto the upper part of the dress, front and back, and sew them on using a large-eyed yarn needle. Use the same needle to work in loose strands of yarn.
