Do it Yourself Beach Centerpieces
- 1). Buy a large glass vase. Choose a simple vase with straight sides so that oddly shaped shells will fit inside.
- 2). Pour a few inches of sand into the bottom of the vase. Use very fine, pale sand if possible. If you don't live near a beach, buy a bag of sand from a craft or garden store.
- 3). Arrange one large conch shell inside the vase. Push the bottom inch of the shell into the sand to keep it steady. Order shells online if you can't find shells locally.
- 4). Set up a few smaller shells around the base of the vase. Prop smaller conch shells against the vase or scatter small fan shells on the table around the base of the centerpiece.
- 1). Collect branches that resemble coral reef. Look for bare branches with twisted ends. You may also be able to find fake branches at a garden or craft store. You will need at least one branch cluster for each table.
- 2). Paint the branches with red spray paint. Let the paint dry. You may need to use a second coat of paint if there are any streaks or bare spots.
- 3). Make candle decorations by punching holes out of white paper. Use a hole punch to cut holes out of sheets of white paper.
- 4). Wrap the paper around the candle holders. Tape the edges of the paper together.
- 5). Set up the centerpieces by arranging the fake coral in the center of each table. Place the candle holders at either end of the coral and place votive candles inside each holder.
