The Lennox Model G26Q3-75-6 is Not Igniting
- The furnace cannot light without a supply of gas, so find the manual gas valve next to or behind the Lennox furnace. Turn the manual gas supply valve to the “On” position if the valve is closed or off. Note that if you smell gas at any time, turn off the furnace immediately and leave the house prior to calling your gas company. If you do not smell any gas, check the main power switch on the furnace and set the switch to "On."
- Following the proper lighting procedure for the Lennox furnace is important to get the furnace lit. Stop first and smell for gas; turn off the furnace and leave the home if you smell gas, and call your gas company right away. You can continue -- if you do not smell gas -- and set the thermostat to the lowest temperature. Open the upper access panel on the furnace and move the gas knob to “Off” before waiting 15 minutes to clear gas from the lines. This is important because gas in the lines can be dangerous. After 15 minutes, smell again for gas and continue only if you do not smell gas after 15 minutes. Turn the gas knob to “On” and close the upper access panel, then turn on the Lennox furnace power and set the thermostat to a warming temperature. The furnace should ignite within a few minutes.
- One of the primary functions of the Lennox furnace air filter is to keep airflow moving properly through the unit. If airflow is obstructed due to a dirty filter, the furnace may not be able to operate properly. Remove the filter from the lower access panel by pushing in on the filter slips and pulling out the filter. You can clean the filter with soapy water and rinse well, then air-dry. Put the filter back into the furnace and attach the clips prior to shutting the lower access door. Cleaning the filter will help improve airflow to the furnace, which can help with ignition.
- If troubleshooting efforts and following the lighting procedure correctly do not get the Lennox furnace lit, contact Lennox for service. The burners or blower system may need to be cleaned or replaced, and this is not a task recommended for homeowners.
