How to Build an MTG Counter Deck
- 1). Insert 15 Island cards into your deck to provide you with blue mana. Add three Plains cards for white mana.
- 2). Add two Absorb spells into the deck. Use Absorb to counter a Target spell and grant yourself three life points at the same time.
- 3). Insert one Abjure card into the deck. Sacrifice one of your creatures to counter a spell with Abjure.
- 4). Add two Glacial Walls to your deck. Summon these 0/7 walls to provide protection if your opponent has creatures in play.
- 5). Add three Ertai, Wizard Adept cards to the deck. While he is only a 1/1 creature, you can pay four mana to counter a spell at any time.
- 6). Insert two Disruptive Pitmages into your deck. Counter spells with the card or morph it from a 1/1 creature into a 2/2 creature for extra damage.
- 7). Add Condescend to your deck and use it to counter a spell unless your opponent pays mana cost equal to the mana you used to cast Condescend. The more mana you use, the harder it will be to prevent your counterspell.
- 8). Use two Syncopate cards in your deck to not only counter a spell, but remove it from the game entirely.
- 9). Add four Counterspell cards to you deck and use them as their name implies.
- 10
Insert three Daring Apprentices into your deck. Use these cards to attack your opponent when he has no creatures on the field. - 11
Insert two Blizzard Elementals and two Benthic Behemoths into the deck. Attack with these powerful creatures to knock off a quarter of your opponent's life points at a time. - 12
Add three Quash cards to the deck and use them to counter a spell and remove all duplicate spells from the owner's deck. - 13
Insert two Sphinx of Jwar Isle cards to your deck. Use the ability of this creature to check the top card of your library at any time to find out which card is coming next.
