How to Make a Fall Broom Decoration

    • 1). Saw off the handle of the broom. Most twig brooms are not more than 2 feet long. However, if you have a long twig broom, you will need to cut off the handle so that the decoration is not more than 2 feet in length when it is hanging on your door.

    • 2). Arrange the artificial flowers so that they make a pretty bouquet in the area where the twigs meet the handle. Tuck the stems behind the broom so that they are not visible from the front of the decoration. You may be able to see the where they line up with the handle of the broom, but that's OK because you will cover that part shortly.

    • 3). Fix the flowers in place by securing them with the floral wire. Wrap lengths of the wire securely around the broom handle so that the flowers will not slip out of place.

Silk chrysanthemums or gerber daisies are nice additions to this decoration.

Cut the stems off the backs of two or three flowers. Leave enough of the stem that the silk petals do not fall out of the plastic holder.

    • 5). Use the hot glue gun to fix the flowers and leaves on the front of the broom. You can use any pattern or design that you like. Do not use too many flowers or leaves; when you are done, the broom should still clearly be a broom. Generally, two or three leaves and two or three flowers will be sufficient.

This type of bow will cover the flower stems and add some fall cheer to your broom decoration.

Tie a large bow underneath the flower bouquet. Use the wire ribbon to make large loops and artistically ruffled tails.
