How to Find Holes in a Pool
- 1). Look at the pool's filter. Water buildup on or around the filter could point to a hole in the equipment.
- 2). Check the pump. The pool's pump could also be suffering from a hole that's causing the leak.
- 3). Examine the heater if your pool has one. Water around the heater could mean this equipment has the hole.
- 4). Touch all the valves and pipes leading from the pool to the equipment and check underneath them. Again, moisture could mean a hole.
- 5). Drop a small amount of dark dye inside your pool where the valves and pipes enter or where other objects are breaking through the liner, such as a ladder or underwater lights. If the dye moves and rushes out of the pole, you've found the hole.
- 6). Continue dropping bits of dye all around the inside of your pool until you spot the hole. You will likely have to get into your bathing suit and wear goggles to test all areas of the liner for holes using the dye.
