    • 1). Click on the desktop shortcut to start the Photoshop application. Select "File" from the menu and choose "New." In the dialog that appears, enter the width, height and resolution you want for the document. If you plan to print it, you should set it to at least 300dpi. Set the background to "Transparency" and click "OK."

    • 2). Go to the "Layers" panel and click on the "New Layer" button. Select the layer in the layer panel and rename it "Gown."

    • 3). Select the "Pen" tool from the toolbar on the left and in the options at the top set the mode to "Path."

    • 4). Use the tool to draw out the shape of the angel gown by clicking to add points and lines. You can refine the shape of the lines by dragging with the mouse as you click to add the points. Right-click on the path and choose "Make Selection."

    • 5). Select the "Paintbucket" tool from the toolbar and in the options at the top choose the color that you want to use for the gown. Click inside the selection to fill it with the color.

    • 6). Repeat steps 2 through 5 to create the other parts of your angel, naming each layer. Because they are on separate layers, smaller parts such as eyes can be placed right on top of the major part they belong to (the head). Save your work.
