If The Mother Is Stressed Out, Will She Have A Boy Or Girl Baby?

I sometimes hear from people who ask me if their stress level has any effect on whether they are more likely to conceive a boy or a girl baby. I often hear questions like: "I have a very high stress job. If I am being honest, I have to admit that I am stressed out all of the time. Will my stress level have any effect over whether I get a girl or a boy? And if it does, is there any way for me to change this?" Another example is a comment like: "I've heard that stress makes you more likely to have a girl baby. I actually want to conceive a girl. So should I try to increase my stress level to get a daughter? And if so, how?" I will try to answer these questions in the following article.

Theories About Baby Gender And Stress Levels: There's a lot of controversy on this topic. Some will suggest that stress levels have no effect on your baby's gender (although high stress levels are never a good idea for your health in general, especially when you are trying to become pregnant or support a pregnancy.) Now, that are some people who believe that stress makes you more likely to conceive a girl. Here's why. It's pretty accepted that stress raises your cortisol and inflammation levels. And inflammation can cause acidity. In terms of conception and gender selection, an acidic vaginal and reproductive tract make a girl baby more likely because the boy sperm do not hold up well to acidity.

In fact, there was a recent study in the UK which found a slight correlation between cortisol levels and the conception of girl babies. Notice that I said slight correlation. The specific numbers were 72 girls to 58 boys so this was obviously a small study but the researchers still felt that was a link to girl conceptions and stress levels.

However, some just don't feel that cortisol or stress levels have that much influence on acidity, especially vaginal acidity. The thing is, you can easily find out the truth in your own case. Whether you are stressed out or not, you can test your vaginal acidity with PH testers. You will very quickly determine if you are acidic or alkaline. If you don't like your reading because it opposes the gender that you are hoping for (as an example you find yourself alkaline when you want a girl) know that you can tweak your PH with diet or douching. You certainly don't want or need to stress yourself out to achieve that goal.

And, you could always ask your doctor to check your blood for cortisol levels if this concerns you. Elevated cortisol levels can have implications for your health and lifestyle. But I feel very strongly that you should never actually try to become stressed in an attempt to influence your baby's gender. They are better (and safer) ways to approach this in my opinion. Plus, many feel that elevated stress levels can actually impede your ability to become pregnant because of an influence on fertility and ovulation.

Acidity Is Not The Only Variable That Determines Gender: Here is another important consideration. Even if the theories that stress causes acidity are true, acidity / PH is only one variable that comes into play with your baby's gender. Timing and sexual positions can also play major roles. So if stress plays a role, it only affects one out of three variables. Most people will look at this and realize that there is no reason whatsoever to actually try to create stress to influence gender. And, it's probably not a bad idea to lessen your stress level when you're trying to conceive.

So if you are already stressed out, my advice would be to try your very best to relax. And if this topic concerns you, then you can easily test your PH and then make whatever adjustments are necessary. These adjustments to your diet and douching regimen will often be sufficient to help you reach the appropriate PH levels. There is no reason for your stress level to enter into the equation.
