How To Grow Grass Seed Successfully
- 1). Rake lawn areas to remove any debris using a flexible metal rake.
- 2). Overseed the raked area with grass seed using a seed disperser or by hand. Evenly distribute grass seed over the entire area.
- 3). Cover grass seed with a thin sprinkling of lawn lime by hand or using a small gardening shovel. Lawn lime increases the soil's pH, vital for a long-term healthy lawn.
- 4). Add 1/4 inch layer of fertilizer over the lawn lime using a small shovel. Evenly distribute fertilizer by gently raking the surface. Clean compost or peat moss fertilizer helps retain moisture and adds essential nutrients to the soil.
- 5). Water the lawn area daily for three weeks or until grass sprouts are visible.
