6 Mistakes That Keep You From Building a Big List

If you already have a big list of 10,000 subscribers or more than you've probably figured out how to avoid these pitfalls.
If you're still working at it then these tips will give your list a boost.
1) You must have an opt-in form on every page.
If you don't you're missing out on an opportunity to collect new members for your list.
The more opportunities they have to sign up the more likely they will be to become a subscriber.
If they don't opt-in while you have them on your site you will probably never have a second chance.
2) If your landing page is not a squeeze page where you offer them something in return for their email address you're missing the boat.
Many marketers make the mistake of sending visitors to their sales page hoping they will buy right away.
But if they don't and you don't have a way to capture their name and email then they're gone forever.
3) You have to target your list.
Make sure that when you send something to the members of your list, whether it's just information or an offer for them to purchase a product that it is targeted to what the member really wants.
If your list has 5000 members chances are not all them fall into the same targeted group.
It's better to identify the groups within the list and focus your marketing to them and your conversion rate will be higher.
4) You have to build a relationship with your members.
This is big.
If you constantly bombard them with sales pitches they will tire of it quickly and not open your emails and eventually unsubscribe.
You build a personal relationship with them by sending them free valuable and useful information.
You only want to offer quality products that will give them a real benefit.
5) Track your lead sources.
If you're generating traffic from several sources and sending it to one page, you must have a way to track what source the leads came from.
You may be spending time and money on one source that isn't productive when you could be spending that same money to increase the productivity of a source that's really working.
By paying attention to the effectiveness of your traffic sources you'll be able to allocate your money and time to the ones that are working best and improve your conversion rate.
6) Track your email campaigns.
Make sure you know what emails are getting opened and which ones get clicked through.
If you're not making money, find out why and fix it.
Track and test everything you do.
