Setting Up a Backup

• There are many programs on the Internet that will help you, such as PING, or Partition Image Not Ghost, and AA1BACKUP. These programs will need to be booted from either a CD or your flash drive, so after downloading it, restart your computer and, on your boot screen, press F12 to enter your Boot Options. Look for the attached optical drive or your flash drive and move it to first priority upon booting up so that the computer will recognize the device you choose and boot the program.
  
  The program will ask whether you would like to backup or restore; choose the option to backup and allow the program to compress your drive into a new folder and create the ISO for it.
  
  Here is where you must up your make mind on how much space you have if you decide to put it on a disc or a flash drive. Images aren't often too big of files, but dependent on how much space you have available on whichever drive you choose, you may not be able to fit the whole partition.
  
  After the ISO file has been created, the program will ask you to select where you would like to save the file. Select either your optical drive with a blank CD or DVD inside or onto your flash drive. Once the process is complete, your backup will be saved onto the specified media if you need it for later use.
  
  

Using the Backup

• If you need to use your backup at any time after it has been created, you will need to boot up from your external optical drive or flash drive so that the backup program opens up. Once inside, the program will once again give you the option to either "Backup" or "Restore." Choose "Restore" and choose where your ISO file is, whether it is on another CD or your flash drive. If it is on another CD, it will then give you the option to insert another CD to use the backup file, or if it is on a flash drive, allow you to select it from the flash drive's folders. Once the process is complete, it will then load your backed up version of Windows on the Acer.
