Celebrity Century Cruise Review
Cruise Line: Celebrity Cruises
Cruise Ship: Century
Cruise Destination: Western Caribbean
Cruise Dates: December 2006

We booked our first Celebrity cruise on the ship Century during the month of December of 2006. The ship has been completely remodeled and is absolutely beautiful.
Our initial excitement was replaced with disappointment as soon as we tried to relax in our stateroom.
We had the bad luck of having a rear balcony stateroom on deck 8. The noise and especially the vibration made it impossible for us to sleep or even relax in our room. I am not kidding when I say that items placed on tables would end up on the floor, every fixture in the room would rattle, and it felt as though a freight train was about to come through your stateroom. It reminded me of those old Hotel rooms where you could put a quarter in the bed and it would vibrate like crazy, well in these rooms you get that for free, all night long. I will add that this cruise had calm seas throughout the cruise so that wasn't a factor.
On our fourth day we didn't even go on an excursion that we had paid for because we were so exhausted from getting no sleep for three nights. When we complained to guest services about all the vibration in our room they seemed shocked but not really interested. We insisted on speaking to the head of hotel services on board and we never heard from him.
This wasn't our first cruise, it was actually our 12th and our 5th cruise line.
I will honestly tell anyone that I would prefer any of the other 4 cruise lines we have taken before I would ever take another Celebrity cruise (Princess, Disney, Royal Caribbean & NCL). We love to cruise but I will say that this was the first time that we couldn't wait for the cruise to finally be over. The thing that made me most upset was finding out after the cruise that this vibration and noise problem with aft cabins on the Century is a well know and well documented problem with this particular ship. Apparently the staff is well trained on pretending to not know about the problem and to make some excuse up for the situation. I prefer to not do business with people like that and hopefully this information might prevent someone else from having a miserable experience like we did.
