What is a Headache in the Back of the Head?

Headache is one of the most common sicknesses currently suffered by humans.
According to studies, most of it can be cured by taking a nap.
However, headache in the back of head is by far the most common headache.
Headache is still a mystery to scientists.
Generally, it can be grouped into three major classes i.
e.
tension related, cluster headache and migraine.
It is not easy to identify clearly the type of it because most of the symptoms would tend to overlap.
The first class of headaches is stress related.
It is typically felt in the back of the head and is also known as tension headache.
It happens when the muscle in the back of our head contracts when one experiences fatigue and stress.
It is often a minor pain in the temple, forehead and in the back of the head or at the region near to the neck.
Additionally, patient would have a stiff and tight neck due to muscle tension or the lack of blood flow.
Besides, an incorrect posture over a long period of time would trigger this form of headaches.
The second class of headaches is known as cluster headache.
It attacks in cluster and it can last for several hours or even months.
The cluster headache may be identified with piercing pain at either side of the head.
The pain would strike either early in the morning, at night and at regions around the eyes or temple.
The last class of headaches is migraine.
It is generally more serious than tension headache.
Pain strikes in either side of the head and would normally induce nausea and vomiting.
Early warning signs before migraine strike are flashing lights, blind spots and numbness.
Patients who suffer from tension headache may carry out their lives as normal.
However, patients who suffer from migraine and cluster headache should seek immediate medical attention.
