Street Fighter Moves - Interviews David D"Antonio - Why You Must Know the 3 Categories of Fighting
Charles: I am happy to be here tonight with someone that is going to explain a fascinating insight that he offered me that not many people understand when they talk about fighting and learning martial arts, and they mix them as though they are all one and the same.
But David has been one of the first persons to ever to explain to me that there are 3 categories of fighting.
And David is going to show that for us tonight.
Welcome, David, and I want you to illuminate us.
What Are The 3 Categories Of Fighting And What Do They Mean? David: Well, Charles, The First Category Of Fighting Would Be Traditional Martial Arts Traditional Martial Arts are pretty much defined by a sense of honor and a life-long study on a martial path.
The Second Category Of Fighting Would Be Sports Or MMA Style Martial Arts This martial art is defined by its adherence to a set of rules and taking less than a lifetime of study developing expertise or experience because you are going to be going into the ring, so you have to train hard as it is more for sport.
The Third Category Of Fighting Would Be RBF Or Reality-Based Fighting This of fighting is defined by a sense of survival.
No rules.
No life-long path of continuous study without any real results in the end.
Reality-Based Fighting is defined by its simplicity, its ease of learning and the fact that it can be learned really in a weekend type of setting with a seminar.
Charles: Wow.
Wow.
And would you not agree that most people confuse these three and thus make poor decisions when they decide to learn how to fight? David: Absolutely because one of the things is a sense of denial.
When we've done something for so long, thinking it's one thing and then we find out it's another, it's really hard to let go of all those years of training in lieu of the real thing when you stumble across it.
But I tell you what, those people that do realize that what they've been studying is not reality-based and will actually get them injured or killed in a street fight scenario, are wise to begin the study of a true reality-based program.
Charles: So, there we have it -The 3 Categories Of Fighting.
Meditate on that.
Think about it.
Because it will determine your survival and your true self-protection.
Again, thank you so much, David for being with us this evening.
David: Thank you very much, Charles.
