Book Review: From Buddha to Jesus by Steve Cioccolanti
Though the topic may sound interesting, I doubt I will grab one if I saw it on the shelf in the bookstore.
This is simply because the cover does not catch my eye.
As I began to read this book, I was immediately caught in awe by the way the author presented Buddhism and Christianity.
His insights on Buddhism and Christianity have brought me to a new level of understanding to these two great faith.
Steve grew up with Buddhists, Catholics, Methodists and Muslims in his immediate family.
Thus, he embraced the popular belief that "all religions are equally good.
" However, it was until age twenty that he discovered Christ.
This book was written with the view of helping Christians to more effectively reach Buddhists with the Gospel by understanding our common ground with them.
It has also cleared some common misconceptions of Buddhism that many of us are ignorant of.
Steve highlighted many Buddhist stories and legends that we, as Christians, may use them to bring light to the Buddhists.
His love for the Buddhists is well written throughout the entire book.
We must not be critical about other religion.
Instead, let's love them and sincerely minister to them.
By doing so, I believe that God will open the window of opportunities for us to share His great love.
One paragraph I personally love the most is when Steve answer the question on 'Will I go to Hell just because I don't believe in Jesus?' 'No', Steve wrote, 'People go to Hell because they are sinners.
Sinners die because of their sins.
Refusing to believe in Jesus is not the reason they die.
' I highly recommend this book to all Christians and Buddhist alike.
This book 'From Buddha to Jesus' is a must for anyone who is interested to know more about Buddhism.
