How to Find Free Printer Drivers
- 1). Determine the manufacturer of your printer. The most common manufactures are HP, Lexmark, Canon and Brother. The manufacturer should be located on the top of printer or on the underside of the printer.
- 2). Determine the model number of your printer. Most printer companies place the model number on the front of the printer. You can also find the model number stated on the bottom of the printer.
- 3). Visit the printer manufacturer's website and look for a link that says "Support". They might also call it "Downloads". After clicking the link, search for your printer model number. Download the correct driver for your operating system. After the download is finished, look for a file that ends in .exe and open it. Follow the steps to install the new drivers and restart your computer.
- 4). Test your printer after installing the correct drivers. If your printer still does not work, try locating a support phone number on the manfucturer's website.
