In 2009, the IPONG table tennis robot hit the scene amidst a frenzy of advertising. As a lightweight, easy to assemble and relatively cheap entry in the table tennis robot market which was at that time dominated by much more expensive models, the IPONG caused something of a stir in table tennis circles.

Two years later in 2011, and the IPONG robot has been successful enough to spawn two new versions, bringing the number of robots in the family stable to three - the IPONG Original (which has been updated with a number of improvements over the 2009 and 2010 models), the IPONG Topspin (a battery operated model limited to topspin only), and the IPONG Pro (similar to the Original model, but with side to side oscillation included).

The folks at megaspin.net have been kind enough to send out some IPONG robots for me to test, so I'll be trying out each model and sharing my thoughts in a review format here.
