How to Disperse Heat From Grow Lights
- 1). Find a stud in the wall close to the lights, using a stud finder. You will want to mount the fan into a stud for strength. The fan should be no more than six feet away from the light.
- 2). Install the fan on the wall so its height is just below the bottom of the bulb on the light. The fan must be able to swivel freely so it can pass air through the entire area.
- 3). Set a floor fan on the floor next to the wall, and have it point up toward the light. The floor fan should be along the same wall as the wall fan, about three feet away, depending on the size of the fan. The floor fan will circulate air from the floor toward the ceiling for an even temperature throughout the room.
- 4). Add extension cords if the fan's power cord doesn't reach an outlet.
- 5). Mount the thermometer to the wall above the light fixtures using a screw gun. The type of plants will determine the heat tolerance. If the temperature is too high for the plants after you've mounted the fans, increase ventilation by opening a door or window. If the temperature is too low, turn down the speed of the fans.
