Carpet & Rug Repair
- Spread the carpet or rug face-down on the ground. Insert and loose threads through the rip with a utility knife. Cut a length of duct tape slightly larger than the tear. Press both sides of the tear toward one another and spread the tape over the tears until covered so that they are no longer visible.
- Add matching heavy-duty wool thread in a upholstery needle and insert it half an inch away from the frayed edge. Extend it over the damaged surface and through the carpet again. Continue extending the thread over the frayed edge until it is covered.
- Scoop up solid waste from the carpet or dab dry paper towels on a liquid stain until completely soaked. Mix mild carpet shampoo with cold water and spray over the stain. Dab with towels until soaked. Spread a wet rug to remove soap residue and air dry.
- To maintain the carpet, vacuum weekly, spread place mats near entrances and clean it frequently if exposed to heavy foot traffic.
