Coyotes are common in Sutton County. American lions make the region home and can be hunted year-round. Though rarely seen, Black Bears are known to move throughout West Texas. These bears are considered threatened animals and hunting them is prohibited. - Quail for dinnerwachtel image by Silvia Bogdanski from Fotolia.com
Each second Saturday of November, Sonora hosts the Annual Sutton County Game Dinner. Families and guests come from all across the US to share in the tradition, and an award is presented for the individual who travels the farthest to attend.
