How to Pack for Four Days in Two Small Duffle Bags
- 1). Make a list of your planned activities. Determine whether you are going to be hiking, shopping, going out on the town or simply relaxing. This will determine the type of clothing you need and help you to pack accordingly.
- 2). Gather everything you will use on a daily basis and pack those into your duffel bag first. Essential items include toothpaste, brush, medicine, underwear, glasses and contact, deodorant, shampoo and soap. Many hotels have samples of shampoos, lotions and soap available for guests. If you are staying in a hotel, you could leave some toiletries at home and reduce the items you pack in your duffel bags.
- 3). Coordinate colors to reduce clothing amounts. Pick outfits that can be mixed and matched. If you are not going to be involved in activities that will get your clothes dirty, pack only two pairs of pants. Each pair of pants can be worn with different shirts for two days.
- 4). Check to see what the weather will be like during your getaway so you can determine the type of clothes you will need. Make sure to pack appropriate items, such as a sweater for cooler temperatures, sunscreen for hitting the beach and a hat to protect you from the sun. Only pack necessities, you can always purchase unexpected items along the way.
- 5). Separate clothes from toiletries. Put all containers with liquids into a plastic bag to prevent spills should they leak. As added protection, you should pack all toiletries and liquids into one duffel bag, and clothing in the other.
- 6). Roll your clothes before putting them into a duffel bag to reduce wrinkles. Fold clothes in half and roll from one end to the other. Place the roll on the bottom of the duffel bag to create a support for other items you are packing.
- 7). Leave room for souvenirs. Though it is just a short getaway, you will need to leave room for purchases. If you are planning a lot of shopping, you should pack third bag in one of your duffel bags to carry home your souvenirs.
