Are You Stepping Over Dollars?
Going through a lot of different points about massive action...
getting things done...
and...
why your New Years Resolutions might fail...
Something else that is needed is to make sure you are doing the RIGHT things In your business and On your business.
There's a lot of different stuff going on in your office.
I don't have to tell you that...
you go through it every day.
So when I tell you to take massive action...
I want to make sure you are focusing on the 'stuff' that needs to get done and just completely eliminate as much of the other 'stuff' as you can.
Don't let it even in to your mind.
Let me give you a story that can put this into better perspective for you.
As always, this is a true story my friend told me a few days ago.
I went to my friend Kerry's Suzuki dealership last week to just burn time (yes sometimes I just waste time on purpose...
it keeps me sane).
As I browsed the refrigerator in his office, I took notice to the 6 boxes of Little Debbie snacks on the top shelf.
When I probed this a little further (Kerry is also my training partner), I found out that another friend of ours can get theses out-of-date snacks from one of his friends.
I guess that's the friend of a friend of a friend routine.
Anyway, that reminded Kerry of a guy that came in to pick up his 4 wheeler the day before.
The guy was a Little Debbie delivery guy, which in turn makes him a business owner since they own their route and buy their own goods to sell to the stores they service.
So this guy pulled out several boxes of snacks while he loaded his 4 wheeler.
He drove off without them.
Thirty minutes later he called (in a panic) to see if they were still there.
Kerry said "Ya, thanks we ate them" (he really didn't).
To this the Little Debbie guy got into even more of a panic.
He said his dad sells the out-of-date snacks for fifty cents a box to help recoup his costs.
Great idea.
Here's where it goes horribly wrong.
The Little Debbie guy drove back to pick up the 6 boxes of snacks...
$3.
00 worth of snacks...
he drove 20 miles one way...
spent $6.
00 on gas to go pick up $3.
00 worth of snacks.
When you finish laughing, take a look at what dollars you are stepping over in your practice.
You know you are doing it.
I sometimes catch myself doing it.
Do you spend 2 hours trying to save $20 on your COGS? Do you spend 3 hours trying find the cheapest flight to your next CE so you can save $21? I'm all about efficiency...
I would just rather spend those couple of hours marketing and making several thousand...
instead of saving $41.
Stop stepping over dollars to pick up dimes.
